Malene Grotrian: My Private Preview

+

"In less than one year Malene Grotrian Design has developed a reputation as Vancouver`s premier haute couture designer." All pieces are designed with unexpected details to create a nouveau classic expression and are made locally in Vancouver B.C. Canada.

Created with a feminity and sophistication, Grotrian's collections offer a variety of evening wear, professional wear, custom designs, and of course Ms. Grotrian’s signature piece, the bustier.

I had the privilege of being invited for a private preview of Ms. Grotrian's collection that graced the runway of New York's Fashion Week the prior evening.

It was love at first sight. I instantly was drawn to the lush fabrics that ranged in texture with a ethereal seaside color theme of sandy beiges, mocha taupes, soft blacks, misty golds, and splashes of warm reds.

Ms. Grotrian also had a magnetic and warm air to her that made me completely comfortable when she started dressing me in her clothes. Unabashed, I melted into her jackets, bustiers, and skirts... despite the fact that they were sample sizes for the runway.

I was absolutely in awe of the details and use of delicious fabrics. Each piece, boasted a little something special. Upon commenting, Ms. Grotrian divulged in her inspirations for the line and how she achieved the feelings I was ascertaining. It involved the balance of the four elements: earth, air, water, and fire. As the "beach" palette reflects these elements, you can not only visually see her inspirations in the colors, but also in the fabrics. From the sand and ocean  to the wet stones on a shore.

Malene Grotian's Collection is an absolute must. For more information on the line, custom pieces, and her studio, please visit: Malene Grotrian
