Blair Waldorf
Accessory Lounge: Hair Affair
+
Spring has finally sprung, Blair Waldorf has dismissed her headband, and so should you. But don't abandon the idea completely, now is the time to flaunt all other types of hair accessories. The great thing about hair accessories is the vast options; pins, turbans, clips, combs... and they work great with any silky mane.
Lately, I have drawn my inspiration from Diane von Furstenberg’s Spring 2010 collection. The line features Mediterranean influenced hair accessories that are stunning and just perfect for this spring breeze. The pieces are actually pins that are crafted out of leaves or flowers, and painted to compliment the outfit, while also drawing attention to your pretty face.
This trend of oversized hair accessories will not go unnoticed. While shopping for your new addiction- have no shame. Whether the piece is a bright pink flower, or a brown feathered headpiece, remember the idea of these accessories is to polish the outfit and to catch the eye of others.
The key is to exude confidence, even if you are in the worst mood, wearing sweatpants and a tank, just add a cute plaid bow, and I promise that will you feel better.
Headpieces that I only pray will catch on: turbans. Charlotte Ronson has recently used turbans and they look fabulous! Large or small, I love the idea of turbans- they give a mysterious and gypsy-like feel.
Depending on your personal style, there are all the options in the world as to what kind of hair accessory suits you best. If you have an artsy personality, then check out the bows and flower pins made out of film negatives from thenewblackmarket.com on etsy. If you prefer a classic look, then put a twist on the Upper east Siders' headband with an oversized bow. You will be empowered with confidence... but remember to behave!

Devorah Rose: The New Face of a Bikini Line
+
Devorah Rose has a lot on her plate these days, professionally speaking. Not only is the blond beauty the Editor of Social Life Magazine, she is filming for a new reality show on CW, and has been named the new face for a bikini line- diNeila.
Wednesday evening, we got a sneak peek of the of the swimsuit line, which was also being filmed for the show, at Roommate Grace Hotel. Models, bikinis, and cocktails... What could go wrong? How about a little cat fight?
After Ms. Rose set up a challenge for a slew of male models, which involved posing individually in white Hugo Boss bikini briefs, then serving us champagne, a certain social "crashed" the party.
An uninvited (as it was portrayed to be) Jules Kirby made an entrance and promptly attempted to tell off Devorah. Let me tell you, Devorah may be little, but her words can bite. After all, the woman is an editor. Obvi, the producers had a hand in this little scene and how it should play out. Jules was escorted out, then returned a half hour later, you know- reshoot. She tried again to spout something about being fake at Devorah, but didn't stick around this time to hear what Devorah had to say.
I would like to take this time to broach the subject of fakeness, since the foundation of the aforementioned argument was based on "being fake" as a social-personality. (I will not, however, address the physical fake aspect... there is not always a correlation between the two.)
There is a large difference between social grace and being fake. Being polite, pleasant, welcoming, and amiable, is charm school 101. I would much rather a gracious hostess then just a hostess.
Now, it is true, the cameras were rolling and the producer seemed quite content with the exchange between Devorah and Jules, I just think Jules should have rehearsed a bit more. If you are going to confront someone Blair Waldorf style, prepare your arsenal. That way, the producers are sure to get TV viewers and fill their pockets.
With all the chatter, I practically forgot about the bikini fashion show, but you can check them out for yourself...
