Devorah Rose: The New Face of a Bikini Line

+

Devorah Rose has a lot on her plate these days, professionally speaking. Not only is the blond beauty the Editor of Social Life Magazine, she is filming for a new reality show on CW, and has been named the new face for a bikini line- diNeila.

Wednesday evening, we got a sneak peek of the of the swimsuit line, which was also being filmed for the show, at Roommate Grace Hotel. Models, bikinis, and cocktails... What could go wrong? How about a little cat fight?

After Ms. Rose set up a challenge for a slew of male models, which involved posing individually in white Hugo Boss bikini briefs, then serving us champagne, a certain social "crashed" the party.

An uninvited (as it was portrayed to be) Jules Kirby made an entrance and promptly attempted to tell off Devorah. Let me tell you, Devorah may be little, but her words can bite. After all, the woman is an editor. Obvi, the producers had a hand in this little scene and how it should play out. Jules was escorted out, then returned a half hour later, you know- reshoot. She tried again to spout something about being fake at Devorah, but didn't stick around this time to hear what Devorah had to say.

I would like to take this time to broach the subject of fakeness, since the foundation of the aforementioned argument was based on "being fake" as a social-personality. (I will not, however, address the physical fake aspect... there is not always a correlation between the two.)

There is a large difference between social grace and being fake. Being polite, pleasant, welcoming, and amiable, is charm school 101. I would much rather a gracious hostess then just a hostess.

Now, it is true, the cameras were rolling and the producer seemed quite content with the exchange between Devorah and Jules, I just think Jules should have rehearsed a bit more. If you are going to confront someone Blair Waldorf style, prepare your arsenal. That way, the producers are sure to get TV viewers and fill their pockets.

With all the chatter, I practically forgot about the bikini fashion show, but you can check them out for yourself...

Def Jam Turns 25... So, What Was With the Turn-Out?

+

Def Jam Recordings celebrated it's 25th Anninversay May 18, 2009 at the notorious 40/40 Club. In honor of that, I would like to say:

What the dilly, yo?

It was a mad house to get in, but then once you were in, there was nothing notorious about it. Obviously, Scene B Seen is a huge advocate for innovation and up and comers, so why didn't Def Jam market the event to promote it's young roster? Which, I personally believe, would have generated the same turn-out.

If one were to celebrate Def Jam's 25th, it would be celebrating the accomplishments of producing some of the most groundbreaking Hip-Hop and R&B artists of our time, right?

We weren't the only ones to come to this conclusion either. The stunning Egypt, from Egyptsaidso.com, posted: I was on the set and really had a good time….But Russell Simmons wasn’t there nor were any of the labels signature artists….hmmm. Jay-Z, not only the former CEO of Def Jam, the hip-hop mogul owns 40/40, was also a no-show .

Monday evening seemed to justify Greg Tate's primary beef: the music industry has joined the “mainstream that had once excluded its originators.” (Village Voice .4, 2005)

Props for those who did grace the red carpet, Tha Heights, DJ Webstar, Pooch Hall and Hosea Canchez of CW's The Game, Sharon Carpenter, Julissa Bermudez, Egypt, Chris Canty, Travanti Johnson, Napiera Groves, and Darrelle Revis.
