Bebe - Kardashians: Fall 2010 - Style360
+
Tuesday, February 16th: Bebe - Kardashians - Fall 2010
Even on a snowy Tuesday morning in New York City, fashion must go on!
Yesterday morning at Stage 37 on W 37th Street, STYLE 360 presented the Bebe-Kardashian runway show as their kickoff to this year's fashion week season. In attendance, of course, was the beautiful Kim Kardashian, there to host the event and, of course, smile for the cameras.
Once the show began, the anxious crowd sizzled to a hum, as the music pumped and the models came out one by one across the u-shaped runway.
The line consisted of a lot of staple colors—blacks, grays, and whites—but in the typical Kardashian fashion, certain pieces were mixed and matched with brightly lit hues—hot pinks, royal blues, etc—that screamed out loud from underneath the blacks and grays. Though usually paired with these fundamental colors, the hot pinks and blues sometimes stood out on their own, like in the eye catching pink romper with the belted waste. As the models strutted down the runway, I could just envision any one of the three Kardashian sisters strutting their stuff in each of the designs.
Jumpsuits and one-pieces played a big role in the show. The opening outfit was a classic black jumpsuit, with a three-quarter sleeve and a belted waist. I cannot even tell you how long I’ve been looking for a perfect onesie... and my hunt moves on over to Bebe!
Another signature theme in the Bebe - Kardashians line was the use of a-symmetry. Many of the pieces flirted with the one-shoulder look, or the criss-cross straps with a twist. One of my favorite designs was the one-shouldered gray dress that hugged the hips and flared at the arm with the stylish use of black leather. Or the gray hooded cotton dress adorned with a black leather corset around the waist, that Kim Kardashian was actually wearing at this very show.
Accompanying the blacks, the hot pinks, and the a-symmetrical designs, was a lot mixing and matching of fabrics; such as cotton or spandex dresses and two-pieces, made with layers of leather and mesh.
At the Bebe Soho store launch party, Scene B Seen Editor in Chief, Britten Heft, spoke with Mary Hamilton, Senior Director of Corporate Communications for Bebe, about the Tri-Kardashian's partnership with Bebe. Hamilton divulged that when Kim first began going out and about in Hollywood, her stylist always dressed her in Bebe and became hooked on the brand. "So the collaboration came quite naturally out of Kim's love for Bebe."
The sisters began development almost exactly one year ago, working closely with Bebe's fabric designers and the Bebe design team, explained Hamilton remarking, " It was really lovely watching all three sisters working together."
Since Bebe has such a high selling rate, the Kardashians line will release FIVE collections per year. The line is also being sold at the Kardashians own two stores- DASH.
All in all, the collection spoke both to Bebe’s signature style and to the Kardashian’s - two styles I personally enjoy, and plan to do some dabbling in.

Social Diva: CEO Peg Samuel- The Divalicious Scoop
+
One night during Miami Art Basel, I ended up at a Duncan Quinn pop-up shop uber-hot Cocktails and Croquet party hosted by Social Diva. I was promptly introduced to the fantavulous Peg Samuel, CEO of Social Diva Media. Obvi, we clicked right away and made plans to meet up at Soho House. I knew that Scene B Seen readers would love to know all the deets about Social Diva.
Scene B Seen: What is Social Diva?
Peg Samuel: Social Diva™ is a go-to resource for all of your social needs. We keep you in the know and enhance your social life by providing info on fun events, handy time savers, invitation-only sales, and the best places to go. On top of all that, we host our own fabulous events in select cities.
SBS: When and how did the idea for your website, Social Diva, begin?
PS: I started Social Diva in an attempt to answer to the infamous, age-old question, “Where can a girl go to have some fun?” Voila! Social Diva was born to solve weekday and weekend doldrums. We produced unique, hip, exciting events with creative, carefully selected themes in the hopes of making going out more fun.
SBS: How has SD developed and/or changed since inception?
PS: We add on more cities every year and also host destination events, like our prior events at Turks and Caicos Film Festival, and our UK book launch in London at the Shoreditch House.
SBS: How do Social Divas vary from city to city?
PS: Social Diva’ism is a mindset; it really is about knowing yourself. You know what you like, love, want and how you want to be. And then you go after it. Being a Social Diva is all about the person and what’s on the inside not where they live.
SBS: You’re based out of New York City, is NYC Diva central?
PS: Yes, we love love NYC. And it loves us right back!
SBS: SD is heavily subscriber based, how does this work and what sort of insider info will a member receive by being on the list?
PS: We have events, insider scoop and divas deals. But most importantly we personally check out everything we report on to make sure it is diva-worthy before reporting on it. We also will never tell you what you’ve missed, we are always inviting.
SBS: I love that! There is nothing worse than receiving a newsletter with "What You Missed..." in the subject line.
PS: Exactly! That makes you feel like an outsider, SD wants you to be an insider.
SBS: SD is like the link for SBS readers. Speaking of, you recently published a book, How to Be a Social Diva. What’s the scoop?
PS: How to be a Social Diva has all the tips of the Social Diva trade: wardrobe guidelines for every event, how to fit your life into a clutch bag, plus essential instructions on how to entertain, travel, shop, eat, look, party and relax like a Diva.
SBS: My fave tip is the Blister Buster.
PS: We Divas love our stilettos, who knew it was so simple to make them comfy?!
SBS: Right? Obviously, parties are essential to social divaness, when did you start hosting parties?
PS: We’ve always been hosting parties! That is what makes us unique, we not only report on where to go, we provide it too!
SBS: What can one expect to find at an SD fete?
PS: Fabulous, like-minded, approachable, fun, interesting people… and YES guys too!
SBS: And what is a party without great tunes? You recently dove into the music business, do tell...
PS: After success in publishing, Social Diva wondered, “Where-to next?” The answer? Well, the recording industry of course. After all, who knows better about music that utterly rocks than a Diva? The Strictly Social Diva™ compilation gives Divas a fabulous mix of heart thumping House music to groove to- whether you’re primping for a party, mingling with the fashionistas, prepping a Divalicious dinner for friends, or just cruising around in your convertible Smart Car.
SBS: Nice! So, I have to ask, what is your fave part about being a Social Diva?
PS: Meeting people, having fun and having others enjoy what we are providing.
SBS: How do people find out about SD parties and other hot parties around town?
PS: Well that's easy! Sign up and we’ll put you on the list! http://socialdiva.com/sign-up/

Samantha Jones: Bday Fête Chez Newhouse
+
On a cold winter's eve, we all gathered at Stephanie and Jesse Newhouse's Soho loft to celebrate the birth of Scene B Seen's own glam beauty: Sam Jones. Sure, it may be Christmas time and there are plenty of holiday office parties to attend, but we prefer to kick it amongst our fashionable friends.
In addition to Ms. Jones, a.k.a The Leather Queen, being the Creative Director for Libra Leather working with some of today's top designers (yes, their leather graces the runways at NYFW), Sam has another MO, Moda Operandi that is. She pens the weekly column here on SBS, which features an insider look on the hottest emerging designers, the latest trends, and how you can own the look.
Needless to say, the guests were dressed with purpose and not a dull conversation to be had. Par for the course, of course, at a Newhouse soiree. My fave hosts were all smiles, happy to throw a stellar party for their good friend Sam. Yet, the fête was just the icing on the cake to their bliss... a little Newhouse is on the way. It's official: Jesse and Steph are expecting their first child.
So, raise a glass of champers to toast three cheers:
To Samantha- You're the most fantavulous friend and we love you.
To Stephanie and Jesse: Congrats and we love you too.
To the Newhouse Dynasty: One of the last great American family names lives on and we love you for bringing us Vogue.

Obliterati Holiday Spectacular: The Media Socials
+
Destination Bar was jammed packed with Holiday cheer and the real Socials of NYC for Obliterati: Holiday Spectacular sponsored by Citysearch and RandomNightOut. Nick McGlynn, founder of RNO and frequent guest photog extraordinaire for Scene B Seen, hosted the latest uber popular event with bells on... or at least a festive Santa hat.
FYI: Obliterati is a monthly event, held in NYC and focuses on new connections and networking between social circles in various media scenes. This event is specifically targeted toward old and new media, public relations and the web 2.0 crowd. It is designed to encourage networking between circles and promote mutually beneficial relationships which will help drive the industries as a whole forward.
The Holiday Spectacular collected two huge boxes full
(approximately 200 cans) for the West Side Campaign Against Hunger, and over 50 attendees were entered into a drawing for prizes. The winners will be announced on the Citysearch Facebook page on Monday, Dec. 14th.
The evening also featured tequila drink specials thanks to Fidencio Mezcal and a special photo-booth from Leora Israel.
Then there were the Obliterati Awards:
Foster Kamer, winner of a 2009 Obliterati Award of Excellence for (as he would say) crushing it with a steady output of funny, insightful cultural and social commentary at BlackBook and Weekend Gawker.
John Carney, Vince Veneziani, Joe Weisenthal (also a co-winner for Fashism.com) and Erin Carlson, Obliterati Team of the Year, 2009, for their dazzling work in making Business Insider/Silicon Alley Insider/Clusterstock into a dominant voice in online business media.
Of course, I shall never forget the Gift Bags... designed by 80LB PRINT, complete with a semi mirrored Disco Ball affixed into the O of Obliterati, which I feel absolutely captures the essence of Nick's parties. Inside were goodies from Dentyne, Huckle Hill Press, Tickle Industries, Wine Library TV, and Media Management Marketing.
For the peeps behind all the social media widgets, apps, platforms, and gadgets, obvi their parties are rockalicious.

Labor Day Weekend in the Hamptons, Obviously
+As Scene B Seen rounded out this fantastic East End summer, we decided to go out with a bang. I think we covered every facet that encompasses The Hamptons experience: BBQs to Midnight Swims, raunchy Day & Night dancing to Shelter Island's Sunset Beach and Andre Balazs' Hotel chillaxing, scenic drives past vineyards to marinas, a Ferrari Rally and we even managed to squeeze in an exclusive TV shoot.
Good friends, good wine, and good times.

Britten Heft: NYC's Newest Notable Blogger and Birthday Girl
+
Our dear friend and birthday girl: Britten Heft, what isn’t there to say? She is thoughtful, loving, selfless, super sweet and is always there when you need anything.... She’s the new girl in town as Editor of Scene B Seen, covering who’s hot, what’s not, and where’s where in NYC and the Hamptons. Obviously, this society gal knows how to throw a party.
Last night it was time to truly be scene and be seen at the utterly jaw dropping Hudson Terrace Rooftop Lounge, for one of the best birthday parties to date. Guests included everyone from the most charming Heft family members to fabulous friends Stephanie and Jesse Newhouse, Jen Marden, designer extraordinaire Allison
Parris, host and promoter Malik so Chic, Karen Biehl with cutie patutie Eli the Chihuahua- accompanied by magician Matt Wayne, and publicist queen Hillary Schupf, artist Jenny Belin… to name drop a few.
Whoever said you couldn’t have your cake and eat it too, should have made it to the beautiful bash! Cameras caught the many who stopped by- hugging, laughing, dancing and taking a bite of their very own little slice of delicious life, eh hem, I mean cake. Hey, we are New Yorkers; we know how to do that.
I finally stopped dancing to ask Britten why this Birthday was particularly special, she responded, "I left the east coast when I was 18 and spent the next dozen years moving around the west. I was trying to figure out how I fit in this world. I suppose I was searching, learning, and questioning so much, I forgot to just be. Now, I finally feel like I'm living- triumphs and tribulations." ...and may I add... Back in New York City- exactly where she belongs!
We need more big hearted “Britten’s” in this city, especially in times like these where some of our best organizations are getting hit hard by the lack of donations due to rising unemployment. Prior to the festivities the sensational guest of honor requested as her birthday wish, for those who were able, to donate a small amount to help out a great organization here in our beautiful city of New York: City Harvest.
It’s a small organization with a big feat. Day in and day out, City Harvest helps feed hungry men, women and children all around our city. They collect and deliver excess food to over 600 community food programs every week. Britten knows it is no tiny task to reach over 260,000 hungry New Yorkers find their next meal.
With Britten's many generous and kind friends- such as Walt Freese, Chief Euphoria Officer of Ben & Jerry’s, and two donors she had never met before she made her wish, City Harvest is now able to help a few more people. Britten raised $555 in just two days via Causes on Facebook.
A huge thank you to Britten and all the unbelievably wonderful donors! Happy Birthday, Britten, we adore you!!!!
